Whoops, taxes are due April 15th and you still have your receipts “filed” in a shoe box. You’re trying to put in for medical expenses and can’t find the bills. Sound familiar? If you’re looking to transform that wild pile into organized digital files you’re going to love our how-to video for NeatReceipts. We couldn’t believe what a beast this tiny gadget (it weighs less than a pound) was when it came to scanning receipts, business cards, important forms, even our kids artwork to create searchable pdf files.
As if that wasn’t cool enough, the NeatWorks software helps create IRS-friendly reports that make it super easy for your accountant to do your taxes. And easier for them equals cheaper for you. We likey.
Which would make you happier: having all your paperwork organized forever and ever or being 5 pounds lighter?

The scanner looks amazing, but the price tag is scaring me away from it. Maybe if I find it on sale somewhere. Thanks for the great tip, though!
Betsy says:
Jennifer, I know it seems steep, but check it out on ZingSale (our very first Twirl) and see if you can save a bit a money on it. And don't forget to scan the receipt when you're done...maybe it's a tax write-off!

I love that you can export all the receipts to an accountant-friendly report. That is awesome!

I love this little tool! I'm thinking it would not only be a big help during tax season...but also at the holidays. I always promise I'm going to keep better track of what I'm spending and never do because the receipts pile up so fast and I don't have the time to manually add them. Thank you for that Twirl!
Betsy says:
Kelly, you are 100% right! Once you have a scanner you'll wonder why you didn't get one sooner. I use it for everything.

This gadget sounds like a life saver! I'm just going through the whole receipts thing right now, and thinking about how I can make it easier next year. This sounds so awesome, thanks for sharing it!

I'm getting my tax stuff together right now too— it's not too late! And the receipt scanner makes it, dare I say, kinda fun? As fun as taxes can be.

Looooove it!
Shoot, what's $199 compared to what your accountant will do to you at the end of the year??
EEEEK!
I'm in. Does it come in blue?
CKnobloch says:
Just white. Which goes with blue.

I'm Twirl addicted right now... NeatReceipts looks like a very useful purchase...I'm late getting my taxes done - finally have an appointment on Sunday...gotta get this for next year FOR SURE. The receipts are already stacking up and I can't wait to try this!
CKnobloch says:
If being Twirl addicted is wrong, I don't wanna be right!
Definitely grab a Neat Receipts for next year... I seriously have been using mine for Ev-ree-thing!
Susan Robinson says:
Questions....are scanned receipts and documents considered a legal substitute for originals? For instance, if I were to make a return would the scanned receipt suffice in all circumstances? What about a photo of the receipt? Would it suffice?
This all sounds like such a smart idea! Now to implement, IF, these will work for more than tax records!
Thanks!
CKnobloch says:
Susan— We're not accountants over here, so definitely check with yours, but it's my understanding that for taxes, you can now use scanned copies. That's what makes these scanners such a huge resource.
