Remember a few years ago when you signed up for a frequent flyer account? You remember that number, right? Oh, and raise your hand if you’ve ever got charged a late fee for forgetting a credit card payment. How about having an online deal expire before you had the chance to take your belly dancing lessons? Who can keep track of all that stuff? Manilla, that’s who.

This awesome site and mobile app will keep track of all your utilities, credit card balances, frequent flyer numbers and even what’s next in your Netflix queue. Not only will it store all that information, and guard it with its life, it will even send you reminders so that you’ll never miss another bill payment again. And, it’s so clever it can even allow you to make those payments right then and there.

So now all you have to do is sit back and feel like the Goddess of Organization. Check out this week’s Twirl and see what left Carley in the dark about managing her busy life.

It does! Manilla is web-based so you can use any browser plug-ins with it.

Actually it does not -- at least not in Google Chrome. It may have to do with the square brackets in the userid and password field names, but I'm not sure. Lastpass simply refuses to fill-in the two fields.

Note that it works fine in Firefox.

Good show! I have a quick question. Did you consider Paytrust as Bill Management service provider? I use Paytrust now but wonder if Manilla might be better. Thanks in advance.

Which do you like better, Manilla or Mint?

      CKnobloch says:

Anna— Mint is all money, all the time. Much more sophisticated in tracking finances and EDITING your financial statements... you can add categories and create charts to track your spending. If you've ever used Quicken, it's like that, only with none of the features you don't need, and online.
Manilla is literally like a folder that holds all your current bills, statements, frequent flyer accounts, magazine subscriptions, utilities... even Netflix and Groupon activity. It's aggregating all the information so you don't have to track it all over the web. AND it allows you to connect through to the provider's site and pay bills online if you have that set up with each provider. Mint doesn't do that.
      Hope that's helpful!

Kate, Thanks so much for reaching out. Unfortunately, many of the products and services we cover have their priorities in supporting use in North America. We wish they didn't! Our audience is primarily here as well, but we are working on making it clearer from the get-go which products/services have capabilities beyond the US/Canada, as you're not the first Australian who has had that question. I hope you'll continue to watch to find those gems that work where you are.
      Thanks!

Hi Dlana. My name is Olivia Cranin and I work at Manilla.com. Manilla differs from Doxo in a few significant ways. The main difference is that Manilla has over 1,300 accounts available today for our customers to add, where I believe Doxo has only 10 or so. Manilla truly allows you to manage your bills, and much more, in one secure place. I hope this helps!

    Jeanie,

Manilla instantly organizes all of your bills and accounts, so it's easy to manage EVERYTHING in one place (from your bills to your travel rewards to your Groupons). Manilla is not a bill pay service - it will show you what is going on with all of your accounts, remind you when to pay your bills or when something is expiring, and store copies of your bills for you. You can continue to pay your bills through your bank, or any way that you wish.

Ok. Handholding time. I literally clicked on DT by accident yesterday and had my Aha moment... but. I am a seriously paranoid person who has had her identity stolen and having to deal with the repair to that damage took months.

I like the idea of Manilla but I hate the idea of a third party having all my information. How secure is it REALLY and for a dodgy New Yorker like myself can I really reach organizational Nirvana. I am normally very organized but find that now stuff is getting away from me too often.

    Thanks and LOVE THIS BLOG.

Christine— Thank you! Manilla has bank-level security when it comes to OTHERS hacking into your account. If they do, it's all "read-only"... no one can use Manilla to drain your bank account, for example. As far as Manilla having your info, it's all encrypted— no one at Manilla can see what your usernames/passwords are.

I appreciate your concerns (dealing with some credit card fraud myself right now, and it's enough to make anyone gunshy). Unfortunately, it happens... and there's little way to know what the origins are (can as easily be a waiter running your card at a restaurant... and that's actually more likely than a site like Manilla stealing your identity!).

re: organizational nirvana... it's possible. Things fall through the cracks all the time (count up your bills, statements, subscriptions, accounts... and you can see why!) so to have it all in one place, PLUS get the reminders when bills are due, it's about as Zen as you can get. :)

I know that Olivia from Manilla might want to chime in and further clarify/add to my assessment here... Olivia?

    Hi Christine,

Carley does a good job speaking to the site security. You can read more on our site and get all the details on SSL 128-bit encryption, TRUSTe, Verisign, McAfee, and more: https://www.manilla.com/what-is-manilla/security/

Please know that our customers' security is our absolute top priority, and that we built the site with that in mind.

I suggest you start slowly with Manilla by adding a few accounts at a time. Maybe start with something non-financial, like your frequent flyer accounts. You can add more at your own comfort level.

    Hope this helps.

Patty-- I like them both. Sometimes what it comes down to, for me, is how much I enjoy being in the app, since you have to spend a lot of time there. I really like how Manilla works, and how it's organized, and sometimes that tips the scales.

I was somewhat disappointed in Manilla. Perhaps it's because hubby and I don't have accounts with many (okay, 3 total) companies that Manilla works with. We also couldn't find a way to add our own bills in. What we really wanted was the ability of Manilla to remind us when bills are due and whatnot. Since we can't add in our own bills from non-approved providers, we will be canceling our account. Sad, because it does seem like a good system.

On another note, thanks to you, I discovered the wonderness that is Evernote! A million thanks!!

Becky— Congrats on finding Evernote. I use it daily. :)

re: Manilla— they do actually have a way to set reminders for any bill, even the ones you can't find on Manilla. Read more about it here: https://www.manilla.com/blog/a-bill-pay-bill-payment-reminder-for-everything/

This makes it a really holistic service, because you can add things like your rent bill, or gardener bill, and you can use all the manilla functionality. Hope that's helpful!

The actual Roboform clients are probably the most well-known software stores of this type. They have type filler applications, which allow you to keep your logins totally synchronized, helping you save quite a lot of time and hassle therefore. You can forget wasting your period filling in the same data again and again. This particular time-saving software packages are utilized by experts and also by consumers within their personal life.
