Tablets are the hottest tech trend around. They’re affordable, portable, and do all the stuff most of us use computers for. Part web, part book, part TV and all around convenience, but which one is right for you?
We’ll give you a basic rundown of what features to look for when you’re ready to buy one. Does size matter? (Heh.) Do you feel the need for speed? How much storage is right for you? From the new Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet, to other Android-based favorites like the Samsung Galaxy 7” and the Motorola Xoom and of course the Apple iPad 2, we’ll show you want to keep in mind before shelling out your cash.
Oh, and beware, the topic of tablets may trigger a twisted tongue. Or, maybe that's just Carley.

I love watching all your twirls on my iPad 2! I am the Social Media manager at a University and can't remember life before I had the iPad! In fact, I was the first to get a tablet in my department and now we have iPads, Xoom's and Galaxy's all over the place!
Love your twirls (on my iPad)!

Good twirl. Oh, and it's not rhyming, it's alliteration.

This is great! Thanks so much! I would LOOOVE something like this for cell phones! My hubs and I are, I swear, the last to jump on the cell phone band wagon. We're looking specifically at Androids and are having difficulty deciding how much we need vs want. Can you say Ice Cream Sandwich!!
Lee says:
The Android tablet I love is the ASUS Transformer Prime. It has a quad core processor and a keyboard dock you can get. It should have Ice Cream Sandwich soon.

Was that supposed to help? Now I want them all.

Hey Carley,
Maybe I missed it. You can surf the web with the Amazon Fire? But only if you are in a wi-fi spot, right?
CKnobloch says:
Whitney— Yes! I don't think there's an app that doesn't surf the web at this point. And yes, the Kindle Fire can only surf in a Wi-Fi spot. Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks for the awesome twirl! Love sharing your videos on our FB Business page:) The Nook tablet - is that backlit also? I have a regular nook that I like to use in the sunlight and my iPad2 for reading at night. Was wondering if I need to upgrade my Nook.
CKnobloch says:
Marjorie— Yes, it has a backlit and full-color touchscreen.

Carley, thank you for your Digitwirls. They are awesome, i learn something new all the time. I like to think I am tech savvy, you show me easily how I can be. Keep them coming and I will keep learning.

You mentioned in this video that one of the iPad 2 models has 64 GB of memory, but it does not... no where near that. It has 64 GB of storage space, and if I had to guess, I'd say it only has around 1 GB of memory, but not 64 GB of memory... that's way too much. But keep up the good work, I love what you're doing and am a total fan!
CKnobloch says:
Chris— You're absolutely right. That was a pretty big mis-speak.
Richard says:
Do you do commerical work?
Sandra says:
An option that I like even better than the ones listed is the Nook Color with a dual boot SD card (like a Nook2Android card $35 to $80 for 4 to 8 GB storage). The card allows you to boot the Nook as an android system and you have access to the full android market. You can even download the Kindle app and read ebooks from Amazon! The Nook Tablet is pretty cool, but you can do a whole lot more with the Nook Color!
CKnobloch says:
Sandra— WOW that seems totally sneaky and smart! Kinda the best of both worlds. Gotta look into that... thanks for sharing!

Carley, I can't begin to tell you how helpful your site is! However, is there any help available out there to learn to use the apps like Evernote. I admit I am tech-impaired, but need guidance to learn the various apps. There does not seem to be any on-line support for them where you can get help. If you know of any resources, please let me know. Many thanks!
CKnobloch says:
Jodi— Longer how-to courses are something we're thinking about doing in the future. It's a great idea. In the meantime, here's a great book, written in plain english, on how to you use Evernote: http://blog.evernote.com/2010/07/23/evernote-essentials/
